Attendance
Learning and fun take place everyday! Please make sure your child comes to school everyday on time, except in cases of illness or emergency.
Allergies
If your child has any allergies please sure that we are aware of them and the proper forms have been filled out. We especially need to know about food allergies and insect bite reactions.

Birthdays
If you would like to send in a treat for your child’s birthday you are more than welcome to. Some ideas might be stickers, bookmarks, pencils, etc. If your child has a summer birthday, we will be celebrating it at the end of the school year.
Box Tops
Our school is collecting “Box Tops for Education.” Each label is worth 10 cents…it adds up fast!
Book Orders
I will be sending home Scholastic book orders on a regular basis for you and your child to look over. If you would like to place an order, please make checks payable to Scholastic. You may also place your order online. I will be sending home a letter with our classroom code on it. It can take up to two weeks for orders to come in.

Communication
Communication between home and school is very important for your kindergartner. Feel free to contact your teacher or send a note in your child’s planner or FAITH binder as your teacher will be checking it every day.
Conferences The school and your teacher will be contacting you throughout the school year for parent/teacher conferences via phone or sending home a note.

Dismissal
School ends at 2:25pm on full school days. If your child is to go home a different way than his or her normal manner you must send a written note. Bus children will be dismissed first and then the children who are to be picked up. This is for the safety of the children. Thank you.

Emergencies
The school may need to contact you in case of an emergency. If your phone number or address changes, please notify the school. This is very important.

You can contact me anytime through email. My address was given to you on my business card.
I will be checking our email in the morning, at noon and after school. There are some days we will be unable to get to it, therefore, please make sure to contact the school office with any important information.

The students and teachers spend a lot of time together and consider one another part of our “school family.” Please encourage your child to tell you something about their day at school.
Field Trips
Occasionally we will go on a field trip to help enhance our learning curriculum. The permission slip must be signed and returned for your child to go.

Good Behavior
Our Kindergarten class is a safe and happy place where learning happens. We are a classroom family where teamwork and good relationships are expected. Any sort of issues will be dealt with one on one and I will contact you for support.

Homework
Your child will have homework throughout the week. Homework is reinforcement of skills learned in class. Homework should never take more than 10 minutes. As a part of their homework, your child should be reading/ or being read to every night. Please make sure to have your child fill in their daily reading chart.
Hands-On Learning
The best way to help children learn is to make activities fun. Important concepts can be learned by doing meaningful hands-on activities. There are times when seat work at the tables is required and necessary, but for the most part, our classroom will be an active learning environment.

Important notices will be sent home periodically. Please check your child’s folder in their FAITH binder for important papers every night.

Job Well Done
Every day, if our class demonstrates excellent behavior and citizenship a star will be moved across the board. When a certain number of stars are reached, the children will be able to choose a practical "reward" for a job well done. Children learn best when they are feeling loved and encouraged. My classroom builds feelings of mutual respect, being risk-takers and supporting each other even when we make a mistake.

Kindness
We have a “0 Tolerance” rule for unkind behavior. This includes actions and words. Kindness is expected out of everyone.

Lunch
Lunch is from 12:00 to 12:20. Recess for lunch will be from 11:40 until 12:00.

Money
If you are sending money to school, please put it in an envelope and have it labeled. Often times a student comes to school with money and does not remember what it is for.

Newsletters
We will send home "Kindergarten Chronicle" each week either through email or a paper copy. It will have the letters and sight words on it that we are studying for the week. There will also be a note from me/weekly reminders. A great place for this is on the refrigerator so your child can study the words and letters any time! The letters and sight words can also be located in your child's FAITH binder.

Organization
Good organizational habits begin to form in Kindergarten. To help keep your child organized through the year I will provide a FAITH binder. This this binder, you will find helpful information such as... classlist, sight words, daily schedule, reading log, folder, handwriting tips, prayers to be learned, and lots more.

Practice
Just like any other thing you expect to be good at, the skills learned in school need to be practiced. Please provide time at home after school for your child to practice their letters, sounds and sight words.

If you would like to volunteer in the school please let me know. We will be contacting all the parents throughout the year to help out with various activities. Remember that our school policy is that ALL GUESTS, even familiar faces, are to check in at the office.

Reading and writing are closely linked. This year your child will be learning to write. We will be trying hard to learn about sounding out words, the correct uses of punctuation and grammar.
Water Bottles
Water bottles can be brought in for your child to drink WATER from throughout the day. They can also get drinks from the drinking fountain
